Investigation Underway into Thrown Explosive Device

A Pensacola man has been detained following an incident that involved a small explosive device outside a Fort Walton Beach area restaurant this afternoon.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to 788 Beal Parkway around 2:30pm in response to a call of an armed disturbance in progress.
Witnesses say a man pointed a rifle at people in the parking lot, then threw some sort of small explosive device their direction.
No one was injured and there was no significant damage to the building.
Deputies were able to make a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle a short time later near one of Eglin’s gates on State Road 85 north.
The investigation, which also involves the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is ongoing.
