Reissue wins big in week one of spring coed softball in Destin
Reissue came from behind to post a 22-12 victory over Eighty-Sixed in the first week of Destin’s Spring Coed Softball League.
All games are played on Wednesday evenings with the first game starting at 6:45 p.m. at Morgan Sports Center.
Down 6-1, Reissue rallied the bats and scored the 10-run limit in the bottom of the third to take the lead 11-6.
In the top of the fourth, Eighty-Sixed brought in six runs to go up 12-11. Reissue tied it up in the bottom half with one run.
With time running out, Reissue held Eighty-Sixed scoreless in the top of the fifth before going on a 10-run scoring spree in the bottom half for the win.
Top batters for Reissue were Kendra Linn with a triple and a double for four RBIs; Tiffany Werner, three singles; Jason Little, home run and a single for four RBIs; Kurt Haynes and Michael Haynes, one home run each.
Summer Sullivan led Eighty-Sixed with a triple, double and two singles for four RBIs. Steve Kertz doubled and singled for two RBIs, and Steven Matuzek hit two singles.
Pitch Please 16, Legendary Marine 9
Pitch Please stepped out to an 11-0 lead in the first two innings. By the end of four, they were on top 15-4.
In the top of the fifth, Legendary scored five. Pitch Please finished up with one run in the bottom.
Nathaniel Combs led Pitch Please with a grand slam and two singles. Cameron Buckley doubled and hit two singles for three RBIs, and Samantha Unterseh hit three singles.
Jack Fette led Legendary with three singles for an RBI. Tim Andrus tripled and doubled for three RBIs, and Shannon Brinkley connected for a single for an RBI.
Destin Commons 26, CJ’s Hangout 10
Destin Commons started scoring strong with the 10-run limit in the first and second innings for a 20-6 advantage.
Destin Commons picked up four more runs in the third and two in the fifth for a run-ruling on the game.
Michael Robbins led Destin Commons with a home run and two singles for four RBIs. Cassie Stewart singled for two RBIs, and Sean Barger hit two singles for an RBI.
Seth Goins was tops for CJ’s with three singles for three RBIs. Christian Thompson hit two singles for an RBI, and Laura Haley singled.
Sultans of Swat 27, Axis Therapy 15
Sultans scored the 10-run limit in the first and then the second inning for a 20-8 lead. By the end of four innings, Sultans were up 27-11.
Axis scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Corbin Carroll led Sultans with two homers and two singles for seven RBIs. Neil Barlow belted a home run, two doubles and a single for an RBI, and Brian Boslew tripled, doubled and singled for two RBIs.
Matt Campbell was tops for Axis with two home runs for four RBIs. Aubrey Claxton hit two doubles for an RBI, and Stever Rivera hit a triple and a single.
Hooters 27, Fudpuckers 4
Hooters dominated on the field to put Fud’s away in four innings.
Hooters scored six in the first, 10 in the second, 10 in the third and then one in the fourth.
Fud’s scored two in the first and two in the fourth.
Austin Polk led Hooters with a triple, double and two singles. Kaliana Matos hit a home run and a double, and Colton Kilpatrick tripled, doubled and singled.
Caleb Love hit two singles for Fud’s, while Kayla Faulkner and Destine Degroat each singled.
