OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — In response to the potential severe weather, all afterschool activities have been canceled for Tuesday afternoon and evening to ensure the safety of students and staff in Okaloosa County.

This cancellation does not include daycare or tutoring services.

The Okaloosa County Director of Public Safety, Patrick Maddox, and the National Weather Service are closely monitoring a storm forecasted to enter the Florida Panhandle this evening.

The storm poses an enhanced risk, with the main threats being damaging winds and tornadoes.

While the exact timing remains uncertain, the storm is expected to impact the area between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Residents are advised to check their school’s social media and website, or contact their activity’s point of contact for information about rescheduled events.
