All-SEC Honors Awarded to Alabama’s Podium Finishers Following SEC Indoor Championships
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Alabama track and field saw all six of its podium finishers accumulate All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league office announced Tuesday.
Three student-athletes for the Crimson Tide men landed on an All-SEC Team, while the UA women’s squad had an additional three earn the honor.
The All-SEC first team consists of the top finishers in each event, while the second team consists of the second-place finishers. The third team is comprised of the third-place finishers in each event. Ties are not broken.
Alabama’s First Team All-SEC Honorees
- After becoming the first UA distance runner since 1994 to capture gold in the women’s 3,000m, Doris Lemngole secured first-team honors after breaking the Fasken Indoor Track and Field Stadium facility record (8:55.27)
- Treneese Hamilton became the first UA women’s shot putter to win gold in the event since 2019, as her school-record-breaking 18.14-meter (59-6.25) launch propelled her to First Team All-SEC recognition
Alabama’s Second Team All-SEC Honorees
- In his first track and field conference championship meet, Dismus Lokira captured silver in the men’s 5,000-meter race, behind a PR time of 13:40.40
- Ruben Banks captured second-team recognition after recording a 22.44-meter (73-7.50) performance in men’s weight throw
- Joining teammate Hamilton on the podium of the women’s shot put was Mye’Joi Williams who extended her PR for the third straight meet (17.85m | 58-6.75)
Alabama’s Third Team All-SEC Honorees
- UA distance runner Victor Kiprop earned third-team honors after 13:41.44 bronze medal finish in the men’s 5,000m
