No. 14 Alabama Secures Highest Home Score of Season on Senior Night
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 14 Alabama gymnastics program registered its second-highest team score of the year at 197.450 to highlight the Crimson Tide’s final regular-season competition in Coleman Coliseum. The tally was also the program’s highest at home this season as the Crimson Tide (4-7, 1-7 SEC) outscored the Florida Gators (9-3, 4-3 SEC) on both the uneven bars (49.525-49.475) and the floor exercise (49.575-49.525) but ultimately fell by a final score of 198.025-197.450.
Throughout the night in the all-around, Gabby Gladieux performed to a season-high-tying 39.575, while senior Lilly Hudson captured a career-high 39.650 in her final regular-season meet inside Coleman. Hudson’s night was highlighted by an event-title-winning 9.975 on the floor exercise. Additionally, freshmen duo Kylee Kvamme (vault) and Paityn Walker (uneven bars) scored mirroring 9.925 scores on back-to-back rotations.
Following the meet, the program highlighted its 2025 seniors Corinne Bunagan, Jordyn Paradise and Hudson, as well as super seniors Shania Adams and Cameron Machado.
“What an electric night that was. We weren’t quite sure what the energy from the crowd was going to feel like going into spring break this week and I thought it was awesome to see everybody really dialed in, bringing the energy and bringing the investment to create a spectacular night. We’ve worked really hard on starting strong as we go into vault for our first rotation, and we have messaged that a couple different ways. From the fifth event of the night [following event warmups], I think the team did a phenomenal job of creating the momentum, only looking at the one thing in front of them and giving it everything they got. I think we got a lot better in that tonight and from a team-process standpoint, we’re finding our groove. We’re peaking at the right time; we’re clicking into place and there’s always just one or two tweaks that we need to figure out to get us to the next point. This was one of our best performances of the season, second highest of the season so far, with a lot of career highs, a lot of performance bests. To have Gabby Gladieux and Lilly Hudson both get a season-high all-around like that, is a big deal on a senior night. I think on senior night, it’s hard not to feel the pressure and the weight of the world to try to be perfect and I’m proud of the way that Lilly, as a senior, was able to put that aside and just focus on what she needed to do. I think that’s a story for everybody on our team – putting aside the outcome and putting aside the goals. While we want all those things, we’ve got to stay focused on what it’s going to take to get there, and that’s the process.
“More than ever, as we go into our meet on Sunday [at Elevate the Stage in Huntsville, Ala.], we’ve got all the opportunities in the world in front of us. We just have to stay focused on the process and not listen to any of the outside noise, not get into the distractions – that is what’s made this team great so far is the resilience, the fight and the courage to step into what are some hard moments and to conquer them, and we just have to keep going.”
