The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Navarre man early Friday morning after he ran off the road, crashed down an embankment, and collided with several parked vehicles outside a Destin hotel.

Deputies say the driver of the black Dodge Charger was ejected at the scene and his vehicle then caught fire around 5:20 a.m. today.

They attempted CPR and also tried to douse the blaze with extinguishers. The Destin Fire Department arrived and was able to put out the flames. The victim, a 50-year-old Navarre resident, was declared deceased by Emergency Medical Services personnel.
