Alabama’s Chambers Earns NCAA Berth on Platform
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama freshman diver Nigel Chambers earned a NCAA Championship berth on the platform to highlight the Crimson Tide contingent on the third day of the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships.
Chambers posted the fourth-best combined score in the event, securing a 749.50 to cement his spot at the national meet. With his impressive 12-round performance, he became the first UA diver to advance on the platform since Mark Farouk qualified for the event in 2022.
The UA freshman tied for third place during the preliminary round, posting a 366.00 to capture a spot in the finals. He would better the performance in the finals with a 383.50 for a combined score of 749.50 to secure his spot in the advancing group.
In addition to Chambers, Colten Cryer advanced to the finals on the platform with a combined score of 628.85 for 14th place. He recorded a 310.25 during the prelims. On the women’s side, Ryleigh Rodgers dove her way into the finals on the 3m board, tailing 601.10 for 14th overall. She held a score of 298.90 in the prelims.
