WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –  The Florida State men’s tennis concluded the final match of the two-week road stretch with a 4-2 loss at No. 1 Wake Forest.

Joshua Dous-Karprenschif and Erik Schiessl returned to Court 2 and came out firing in doubles play. The pairing grew an early lead and won their match 6-3 following the Demon Deacon win on Court 3. Dous-Karpenschif and Schiessl have won nine matches this spring, including three wins over top-10 ranked schools.

The attention turned towards Court 1 for the conclusion of the top-10 doubles battle, Wake Forest pulled away to win the match 6-4 and clinch the doubles point.

After first set wins on Courts 2 and 3, the Seminoles fired back with authority. Bulte made quick work with a 6-1 first set before holding firm to win 6-3 in the second frame and tie the match at 1-1. Bulte takes his second Court 3 win against a top-10 school, both victories against Texas A&M and Wake Forest opponents were on the road.

Connel managed his first set before winning six of the final seven games over the No. 65 player in the nation. His win put Florida State in the lead over the No. 1 team in the nation at 2-1. Connel extends his six-match unbeaten streak and remains unbeaten in conference play.

Wake Forest responded with a straight-set win on Court 4 before clinching the match with tight second set wins on Courts 1 and 5.
