Women’s Basketball Earns 14th NCAA Tournament Berth, Set to Face Green Bay First Round
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s basketball team earned a No. 5 seed in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament and will face No. 12-seeded Green Bay in the Birmingham 2 Region, beginning March 21. Times, dates and television information will be released at a later time.
The winner of the opening round game will face the winner of No. 4 seed Maryland and No. 13 Norfolk State.
NCAA Tournament Notes
- This marks the Crimson Tide’s 14th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and third consecutive trip to the Big Dance
- It is the fourth time in program history Alabama has earned a No. 5 seed or better in the tournament (1992, 1993, 1999)
- UA has made the tournament four times in the last five years, after also advancing to the 2024 NCAA Tournament
- Head Coach Kristy Curry will make her 13th trip to the NCAA Tournament, after capturing berths to the Big Dance at Purdue (2000-06) and Texas Tech (2011, 13) prior to UA’s 2021 appearance
- Under Curry, Alabama will make its fourth tournament appearance
- The Crimson Tide is 18-13 all-time in the NCAA Tournament
- Alabama’s deepest run came in 1994 with the team advancing to the Final Four
