2024-25 NBA MVP odds: SGA running away from Jokić
The NBA regular season is nearly over, which means it’s time to dive deeper into the regular-season MVP market.
As the winner of the NBA’s most coveted award in three of the last four seasons, Nikola Jokić will look to make history by winning four out of five.
Celtics legend Bill Russell won four out of five from 1960-61 to 1964-65, and LeBron James did the same between 2008-09 and 2012-13. Those are the only two names to accomplish the feat in league history.
Jokić opened the season at +400 to win the award, and currently, he is top-three in the league in points, rebounds and assists.
Let’s take a look at the NBA MVP odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of March 17.
2024-25 NBA MVP odds:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: -650 (bet $10 to win $11.54 total)
Nikola Jokić: +400 (bet $10 to win $50 total)
The NBA MVP race is a two-man one, with one man firmly in the lead, despite the efforts of the other.
Jokić turned in the NBA’s first ever 30-20-20 game in the Nuggets’ overtime win over the Suns on March 7 — 31 points, 22 assists and 21 rebounds, to be exact.
With that, Jokić’s odds shortened drastically, sitting at +200 on March 8.
As of March 17, the reigning MVP Jokić is averaging 29.1 points (third), 12.8 rebounds (third) and 10.3 assists (second).
However, despite those gaudy and historical numbers, Gilgeous-Alexander remains in the driver’s seat, and made his own statement in the Thunder’s 127-103 win over Jokić’s Nuggets on March 9.
In that game, SGA finished with 40 points, and as of March 17, SGA’s Thunder are 56-12 on the year, the second-best record in the NBA.
Gilgeous-Alexander is first in the league in points per game (33), alongside 6.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
In addition, through eight games in March (as of March 17), SGA has games of 51, 41, 40 and 48.
