Men’s Basketball Trio Earns NABC Honors

Last Updated: March 18, 2025By

Three Florida men’s basketball players garnered All-District honors for the Southeast region, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced on Tuesday. Senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. and sophomore forward/center Alex Condon received first-team recognition, while graduate guard Alijah Martin picked up second-team accolades.

The individual accolades have followed team success as the 30-win, SEC Tournament champion Gators get set to open NCAA Tournament play on Saturday.

Clayton leads the Gators in scoring (17.5), assists (143) and 3-point field goals (97), while Condon is the team’s leading rebounder (7.9) and shot-blocker (44) to go along with 11.2 points per game. An elite defender, Martin averages 14.5 points per game and has 75 assists and 69 3-pointers to go along with 52 steals.

Clayton, a native of Lake Wales, Fla., picked up SEC Tournament MVP honors on Sunday, averaging 20.7 points and hitting 50 percent of his 3-pointers over Florida’s three wins in Nashville. He was also named first-team All-SEC by the coaches, Associated Press and USA Today.

Condon, out of Perth, Australia, previously earned a pair of All-SEC honors, garnering second-team from USA Today and third-team from the coaches, while the Summit, Miss., native Martin earned a place on the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year top 10 list in his lone season at Florida.

The Gators have multiple NABC All-region players for the second straight year – Clayton and Zyon Pullin both earned second-team honors in 2024 – but UF’s three honorees this season are its most since having four in 2006-07, when Corey Brewer, Taurean Green, Al Horford and Joakim Noah all took home the recognition.

The NABC introduced a new model for its Division I district alignment this season, with schools arranged by state rather than by conference. The modernized NABC Division I district alignment features 10 geographic regions that each encompass multiple states. Every Division I school in each given state belongs to that state’s corresponding district.
