The Tide got out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but Ashtyn Danley got a groundout to leave the bases loaded to prevent any further damage. Danley settled in and allowed just two hits in the next three innings to keep the Crimson Tide off the board.
With just one hit through three innings, the Seminole offense made some great adjustments the second time they saw starting pitcher Jocelyn Briski. Michaela Edenfield and Dack picked up back-to-back singles in the top of the fourth to put a runner in scoring position for Jahni Kerr with two outs. Kerr delivered with a double to left center field to score both Edenfield and Dack to tie the game at two. The Tide threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning as they got two runners on with one out, but Apsel came in to relieve Danley and got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.
The Noles’ offense used the momentum in the top of the sixth inning as Kennedy Harp singled up the middle, and Edenfield walked to put two runners on for Dack. Dack delivered a with her eighth home run of the year over the left field wall to give the Noles a 5-2 lead. Dack now has three home runs eight RBI in her last 10 games.
Apsel shut down the Crimson Tide in the final two innings as she did not allow a baserunner and struck out the final two batters to end the game to improve to 10-0 on the year.
FSU’s big week continues this weekend as they head to Durham to take on No. 18 Duke. The series opener will be at 6 p.m. on Friday on ACC Network.
