Gators Head to Oxford for Battle with Rebels

OXFORD, Miss.– Florida men’s tennis is back on the road as they face No. 50 Ole Miss on Friday, March 21 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. E.T. with doubles action and singles following immediately after. The contest marks the first of four matches to be played on the road.
 
The Gators enter Friday’s match with an 9-7 overall record and 4-3 in conference play. The all-time series between UF and Ole Miss is in favor of the Gators at 20-11. The last time the two teams met was March 22, 2024 in Gainesville where Florida defeated the Rebels 4-0.
 
Florida’s last outing was a 4-1 victory over the Razorbacks. Arkansas secured the double point but the Gators used strong singles performances to take the win. UF earned all their points in straight sets on courts three through six. Ben Weintraub got Florida on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Arthur Bellegy and JanMagnus Johnson followed posting a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Jakub Vrba giving the Gators a 2-1 lead. Kevin Edengren extended the lead after a 6-2, 6-4 win against Benni Emesz, and Henry Jefferson sealed the match with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Marino Jakic.

The Rebels enter Friday’s match with a 11-6 overall record and 2-5 in conference action. Ole Miss’ last outing was a 4-3 loss to then-No. 39 Auburn. Ole Miss currently sits at No. 50 in the ITA rankings and has one ranked doubles pair, No. 78 Kai Milburn and Isac Stromberg.

ITA RANKINGS
As a team, Florida sits at No. 31 in the ITA rankings. Three Gators are ranked in singles competition: Jeremy Jin at No. 65, Henry Jefferson at No. 113, and Adhithya Ganesan at No. 124. UF also has two ranked doubles pairs, Tanapatt Nirundorn and Henry Jefferson  sit at No. 18, followed by Nirundorn and Ganesan at No. 79.
