Alabama Battles No. 19 Tennessee in 4-3 Loss

Tuscaloosa Ala. – The Alabama men’s tennis team (10-8, 2-7 SEC) fell 4-3 to No. 19 Tennessee (14-5, 5-3 SEC) on Thursday night inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility. 

Alabama captured three singles victories in the matchup against the Volunteers with wins from Filip Planinsek, Andrii Zimnokh and Damien Nezar.

  • Tennessee captured a 1-0 lead after securing the doubles point with wins on court one and three, respectfully
  • Andrii Zimnokh claimed the Crimson Tide’s first point with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jose Garcia on court three
  • No. 18 Filip Planinsek captured his 13th singles win this season after downing No. 24 Shunsuke Mitsui on court one, 7-5, 6-3 
  • Damien Nezar would close the match with a three-set, come-from-behind victory, 5-7, 7-6(6), 10-7, on court five that included a second-set tiebreaker
  • The Volunteers won singles courts two, six and four to secure the team victory
