Florida Topples Ole Miss 5-2
OXFORD, Miss. — The Florida men’s tennis team defeated No. 50 Ole Miss 5-2 at the Palmer/Saloum Outdoor Tennis Center on Friday evening. The Gators secured the doubles point and used a strong display in singles to move to 5-3 on the season.
In doubles action, the Gators saw success on courts two and three. Kevin Edengren and Ben Weintraub finished first for UF as they defeated Noah Schlagenhauf and Loan Lestir in a 6-3 outing on court three.
On court two, Jeremy Jin and Adhithya Ganesan clinched the double point with a 6-2 victory over Benjamin Martin and Matthieu Chambonniere.
In singles play, it was Ole Miss that struck first with Lestir defeating No. 113 Jefferson. Jefferson was shut out in the first set, falling 6-0. Jefferson attempted to take the second, but fell 7-6 (7-4).
Weintraub faced Chambonniere on court six and also fell in straight sets. The freshman dropped the match 6-3, 6-3 and Ole Miss led 2-1.
No. 124 Ganesan opened the scoring column for UF winning his match in 6-4, 6-3 effort. Ganesan defeated Marcel Kamrowski on court two leveling the score at 2-2.
JanMagnus Johnson put the Gators ahead after a dominant performance against Isac Stromberg on court three. From the start of the match, both players went on a back-and-forth battle. The first set went into a tiebreak with Johnson ultimately falling 7-6 (7-3). Johnson took control in the second cruising to a 6-3 victory and forcing an extended set. Johnson left little room for doubt logging a 6-2 win to put the Gators within one point of securing the match.
No. 65 Jin sealed the match for Florida as he manned court one. Jin faced Schlagenhauf and also saw his match go into an extended set. Jin was downed in the first set 6-4, but responded in the second winning the tiebreak 7-6 (7-3). The final set was a thriller with both players having an answer for the other, but Jin outlasted Schlagenhauf taking a 7-6 (7-4) victory.
Despite clinching the match both teams decided to play out the remaining court featuring Edengren and Martin. Edengren dropped the first set 7-5, but used a 7-6 second set win to force an extra set. Edengren kept his rhythm in the third set, recording a quick 6-1 win giving the Gators a 5-2 match victory.

UF also has two ranked doubles pairs, Tanapatt Nirundorn and Henry Jefferson sit at No. 18, followed by Nirundorn and Ganesan at No. 79.
