No. 12 Alabama Baseball Falls to No. 1 Tennessee, 9-2, on Saturday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 12 Alabama baseball dropped Saturday’s rubber-game to No. 1 Tennessee, 9-2, on Saturday in front of a sold-out Sewell-Thomas Stadium crowd. After dropping consecutive games for the first time this season, the Crimson Tide now sits at 22-3 overall and 4-2 in Southeastern Conference action.
The Tide tallied six hits on the afternoon with Kade Snell recording another multi-hit performance. The redshirt senior was 2-for-4 with two singles, the lone Alabama player to manage multiple hits. Richie Bonomolo Jr., Coleman Mizell, Will Plattner, and Jason Torres each recorded hits, with Bonomolo Jr.’s double standing as the Tide’s only extra-base hit. Justin Lebron drove in his 50th RBI of the season, while Plattner produced an RBI single in the final inning.
Bobby Alcock (3-1) was hit with his first loss of the spring after allowing three runs on five hits in 2.1 innings. Hagan Banks, Coulson Buchanan and Aeden Finateri each turned in scoreless relief outings. Banks struck out two of the four Volunteers he faced with Finateri striking out the side in the ninth.
From Associate Head Coach Jason Jackson
“You have to tip your cap to them. Their guys did a great job on the mound and we couldn’t do much offensively. On the other side of the ball, they were just tough to put away. We gave up three home runs and were ahead in the count on two of them and it was just foul ball after foul ball. So, you’ve got to tip your cap there. But, our guys kept fighting and we’re sitting here at 4-2 in the league with eight weeks to go, so we just have to keep chugging and keep on getting wins whenever we can.”

- T5 | A leadoff homer to right extended UT’s advantage. (5-0, Tennessee)
- T7 | The visitors plated four more runs on four hits, highlighted by a three-run double to left. (9-0, Tennessee)
- B8 | Richie Bonomolo Jr. doubled to open the inning, reaching third after a productive out. Justin Lebron managed an RBI groundout to bring in Bonomolo Jr. (9-1, Tennessee)
