No. 3 Florida Gymnastics Third at SEC Championships Meet

Last Updated: March 22, 2025By

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  The 2025 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championship meet had the feel of a national final, which is understandable as six of the nation’s top 10 teams – including the top three – were in the Legacy Arena Saturday evening.

No. 2 LSU won its second consecutive SEC meet title at 198.20. Top-ranked Oklahoma just edged Florida for the second position, 197.925 – 197.825. Rounding out the meet results were No. 7 Missouri (197.40), No. 12 Alabama (197.10), No. 9 Kentucky (196.775), No. 10 Georgia (195.95) and No. 15 Auburn (195.95).

Three Gators won two of the meet’s individual event titles. Junior Selena Harris-Miranda used her second 10.0 of the season to win vault. Gator seniors Riley McCusker and Leanne Wong used 10.0s to share the uneven bars title with Missouri’s Mara Titarsolej.

Tonight’s Meet:
Florida started on floor exercise, earning a 49.375. Marks of 9.90 for both freshman Taylor Clark and Selena Harris-Miranda led the Gators. Victoria Nguyen led off the lineup with a 9.875. Harris-Miranda has scored a 9.9 or better in all 10 of her floor performances this season. Saturday’s mark was Clark’s fourth consecutive 9.9 or better for floor.

Season bests started and closed Florida’s vault lineup. Sophomore Anya Pilgrim opened by matching her season best of 9.925. Harris-Miranda’s second 10.0 of the season closed the lineup. It was the 10th perfect vault in SEC Championships history and first since 2017.

Records for NCAA, SEC Championships and school were set with Florida’s uneven bars total of 49.85. A score that big certainly included a perfect mark and the Gators got two from a pair of seniors. Leanne Wong hit her first uneven bars 10.0 of the season and the fifth of her career. Anchoring the lineup with her first collegiate 10.0 was Riley McCusker. Also turning in marks of 9.95 toward the team total were Alyssa Arana, Skye Blakely (both collegiate bests) and Harris-Miranda.

Florida took a slender 0.05 lead into the final rotation, but its beam total of 49.10 couldn’t keep the Gators on top. Sophomore Skylar Draser led the Gators off with a team leading 9.85, which was matched by Nguyen.

GATOR PERFORMANCE NOTES:

  • Florida’s eye-popping 49.85 on uneven bars sets the NCAA record. The previous high of 49.825 was set by Georgia in 1996 and matched by Alabama in the 1996 NCAA Championships, Utah in 2004 and Oklahoma in 2020.
  • An uneven bars 10.0 has been posted now five times in SEC Championships history – with four coming by the Gators. Bridget Sloan was the first in league history to earn a bars 10.0 and was joined by Trinity Thomas in 2023. Add Riley McCusker and Leanne Wong to that list with their performance tonight.
  • Selena Harris-Miranda scored the first Gators’ vault 10.0 in SEC Championships history.
  • The 10.0 was Harris-Miranda’s sixth of career on vault and eighth overall. She posted the nation’s first vault 10.0 of 2025 on Feb. 28 versus Missouri. She is the only gymnast this season with multiple vault 10.0s.
  • It was the first time two Gators scored a pair of uneven bars 10.0s in a single meet.
  • The uneven bars win was Leanne Wong’s third SEC title of her career. She won beam as a freshman and sophomore.
  • Collegiate bests tonight:
