COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 5 seed Alabama women’s basketball team defeated No. 12 seed Green Bay, 81-67, in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday inside the Xfinity Center. The win marked the second consecutive year Alabama has advanced to the Round of 32.

Zaay Green (22 points) and Aaliyah Nye (23 points) led the Crimson Tide (24-8) as the duo combined for 45 of the Tide’s 81 total points on the day. Karly Weathers added 10 points alongside 10 rebounds en route to her second consecutive double-double. Weathers led Alabama on defense as well, tallying three steals on the day, helping lead to 22 points off of 10 Green Bay turnovers.

Maddy Schreiber led four Green Bay (29-6) players who reached double figures with 14 points in the losing effort.

“I am so proud of our locker room and for our team to have nearly five players in double digits. I’m also proud of the way we rebounded the ball and the way we took hits all day long. We were fortunate to get to start hitting three-pointers down the stretch and to get the ball inside to Essence Cody. I cannot be more proud of our execution on both sides of the ball and the gameplan. Just really proud because it is hard to win this time of year.”
