Alabama Track Finishes the Bulldog Relays with Five First Place Finishes
STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Alabama track and field program wrapped up the opening weekend of the outdoor season Saturday afternoon at the Bulldog Relays in Starkville. The Crimson Tide shined on the day, finishing with 14 top-five finishes in addition to five all-time top-10 performances.
The Crimson Tide dominated the leaderboards, having 30 total athletes finish in the top 10 across 10 events, including six in the women’s 800-meter alone. Alabama opened the day up with Megan Albamonti’s 50.2m (164-8) toss to take first place in the women’s javelin throw and put her in the record books as the seventh-longest throw in program history.
The momentum would continue from there, as the Crimson Tide claimed four more first-place finishes which included Cross Derriso in the men’s pole vault, Keaton Morrison in the women’s 800-meter, Oussama El Bouchayby in the men’s 800-meter and Trevor Gunzell in the men’s shot put. All of which put themselves in the program’s top-10 of their respective events.
