FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Florida State women’s swimming and diving team concluded the NCAA Championships with a pair of finals appearances on Saturday night at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.

On the fourth and final day of competition, seniors Maddy Huggins and Edith Jernstedt each advanced to the finals in the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly, respectively. Both Seminoles notched 14th-place finishes to earn All-America accolades.

“It was an amazing last day with our two seniors getting back in the finals and Kayleigh Clark diving great but just missing the top 16,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “I could not be any happier for Maddy and Edith. They have been so special for our program for four years and to finish like this is a dream come true.”

In the 200 breaststroke final, Huggins touched the wall in 2:08.35 after a 2:08.20 in prelims. At her third NCAA Championships, she placed 14th.

In the very next event, Jernstedt added her own 14th-place finish in the 200 butterfly final. The four-time NCAA qualifier posted a time of 1:54.36 after a mark of 1:54.16 in the prelims. The personal-best prelims time improved Jernstedt’s spot at No. 2 in school history and is the fastest since the record was set in 2014.

Both Huggins and Jernstedt, along with FSU’s 400 medley relay on Friday night, earned All-America accolades for their top-16 finishes at the national meet.

Also on Saturday, redshirt junior Kayleigh Clark was 19th overall on platform with 262.60 points. She made her NCAA debut this week in Washington.

Eight student athletes represented the Seminoles at the NCAA Championships from March 19-22, including two relays, two divers and Huggins and Jernstedt.

Up next, the men will have their national championship meet from March 26-29, also in Federal Way, Washington.
