TALLAHASSEE –  The Florida State men’s tennis team sealed a 4-2 victory over Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon in the Seminole Heritage match.

After Georgia Tech earned the first point in doubles play, the Seminoles displayed some of their most dominant singles performances of the season. Azariah Rusher returned to the singles lineup and completed an incredible performance on Court 6. Rusher won 12 of the 15 games played and defeated his Yellow Jacket opponent for a second consecutive season.

Joshua Dous-Karpenschif carried similar form as he ran away to a 6-3 first frame before replicating the same scoreline to give the Seminoles the lead at 2-1. Dous-Karpenschif is 4-0 against conference opponents at home and is unbeaten at the Speicher Tennis Center this spring.

Jamie Connel followed suit pulling out a gutsy first set before commanding the final frame 6-1 to notch his seventh ranked win of the season. The senior extends his team leading 18 wins in singles play with five conference wins in 2025.

Georgia Tech worked their way back into the match with a straight-set victory on Court 3 before forcing a third set on Court 1 to stave off defeat.

Erik Schiessl put the Yellow Jackets’ efforts to rest as he overcame a first-set tiebreaker loss and punched back with a 6-2 second frame and won five consecutive games in the third set to clinch the match.

FSU maintains a perfect record against ACC foes at 4-0 including two sweeps over Boston College and SMU. The Seminoles also have string together five consecutive wins at the Speicher Tennis Center.

Florida State will travel to North Carolina for the second time this season for the final regular season road trip of the season. The Seminoles will face #13 Duke on Friday at 5 p.m. before facing North Carolina on Sunday at 12 p.m. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
