Florida Women Finish Sixth Nationally with 232 Points

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Florida women’s swimming and diving team finished sixth at the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships. The Gators scored 232 points to conclude their 2024-25 season on Saturday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The placement marks the first time since 2013-15 the program has earned three-straight NCAA top-10 finishes. 
 
Virginia won their fifth-consecutive NCAA title with 544 points. Stanford came in second with 417 points to outlast Texas’ 394 for third. Indiana and Tennessee rounded out the top-five, accumulating 312 and 298 points, respectively. 

11 Gators earned 17 All-American honors in the four days of competition. Bella Sims had a team-high six, being part of four relay honors and earning two individual First-Team. The sophomore finished runner-up in both individual backstroke events and was a member of Florida’s 400 medley and 800 free relay teams who placed third. The Tokyo Olympian also led off the Gators 200 medley relay who set a school record on the opening night of events with a 1:33.92 and set two individual program records.   

Saturday Recap
Sims highlighted the final day of events, improving her 200 back program record to 1:47.11 en route to her second runners-up finish of the week. She capped off her 2024-25 season with a 46.53 leadoff leg in the 400 free relay to set a new 100 free school record. She currently holds seven of Florida’s 13 individual records, while being a member of all five relay records.

Catie Choate advanced to the 200 back Consolation Final after going the seventh-fastest time in history during morning prelims with a 1:51.77. The sophomore improved her time to 1:51.25 in the night session to earn her first All-American honor of the week, second of her career.

Addison Reese represented Florida in the 200 fly finals after having a strong prelims swim. The freshman went 1:54.14 to become the fourth-fastest swimmer in program history. She collected her first All-American honor of her collegiate career after placing 13th overall.

Florida showed out in the 1650 free, as all three Gators scored after placing in the top-16. Michaela Mattes had an incredible race in her fifth heat. The redshirt freshman dropped over four seconds off her seed time for a 15:54.98 to place 11th overall, resulting in her first All-American honor. The time sits No. 7 in the Florida’s all-time top-10 and marks a personal best. Emma Weyant went 15:56.56 in the sixth heat to place 15th and ahead of fellow Gator Julie Brousseau’s 15:57.60. The freshman had an outstanding first NCAA Championships, earning four All-American honors and reaching the finals in all three of her individual events.

PLATFORM DIVING

Casey Greenberg and Camyla Monroy appeared in the final diving event, platform. Making her first NCAA Championships appearance of her career, Greenberg started strong with a 61.60 on her first dive. Her second and fourth dives took the junior captain out of the 16 final spots, but she posted a strong fifth and final dive score of 53.36 to finish with a score of 229.85 for 36th.

 

Competing in her third diving event this week, Monroy’s first (55.50) and second (67.20) dive scores kept her in competition for the top-16 spots. Although her third dive score was a 40.60, a finals spot still looked promising after she scored a 69.30 in the fourth round. Monroy’s final dive was just shy of the last qualifying spot, finishing only two points behind 16th with a 267.80. Throughout her sophomore season, she tallied numerous conference accolades such as: 2025 SEC Championships Diver of the Meet, the SEC one-meter champion and was named SEC Diver of the Week four times.

GATOR SENIORS
Florida’s four seniors, Micayla Cronk, Olivia Peoples, Emma Weyant and Mabel Zavaros, concluded their collegiate careers this week in Federal Way.
 

Micayla Cronk
From Palm Coast, Florida, Cronk is an 13-time All-American and a three-time All-SEC First Team and All-SEC Second Team member. Cronk was a member of the 2024 NCAA 800 Free Relay Team who won Florida’s first National Title in the event since 1989. She has collected two SEC Championship rings and is a two-time SEC Champion in the 800 free relay as well as a 2024 SEC Champion in the 200 free, 400 free and 200 medley relay teams. Most recently, she anchored the women’s 400 medley relay team who earned Florida’s first SEC title since 2005. The squad posted a program and SEC Meet record time of 3:24.78. On top of her championship titles, she is currently part of all five relay teams that sit No. 1 in Florida’s record books.
 
Olivia Peoples
Peoples is a nine-time All-American and has qualified for the NCAA Championships in all four years as a Gator. From St. Augustine, Florida, she has been a member of the women’s back-to-back SEC Championship winning teams and currently holds the 100-yard butterfly school record with a time of 50.47. Peoples is also a member of the fastest 200 medley, 400 medley and 200 free relay teams in program history. She is a 2024 SEC Champion in the 100 fly and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. At this year’s SEC Championships, Peoples was a member of the winning 400 medley relay team who earned Florida’s first SEC title since 2005. She earned an individual silver medal in the 100 fly and was part of the Gators 200 medley relay team who finished third.
 
Emma Weyant
Weyant transferred to Florida and returned to her home state in 2022 and has recorded three individual program Top 10 times and was a member of the Florida’s 2024 NCAA 800 Free relay who won the National Title and set the school-record with 6:48.59. The 10-time All-American is a two-time Olympian and a two-time Olympic medalist in the 400 IM, earning silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and bronze this past July at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She has been a key contributor of two SEC Championship teams, while becoming a three-time All-SEC First Team member. Weyant is a three-time SEC 400 IM and a two-time 800 free relay champion, as well as the 2024 SEC champion in the 500 free.

Mabel Zavaros

A native of Burlington, Ontario, Canada, Zavaros made her return this season after missing the 2024 season. Competing in three NCAA Championships, she had a successful showing this past week. Zavaros earned two All-American honors to total four in her collegiate career. She has the program’s fourth-fastest 400 IM time with 4:01.86 and was a member of the 2023 SEC Championship winning team. Mabel has represented her home Country for various competitions and has qualified for two Canadian Olympic Trials.
