Tuscaloosa Regional Field Solidified, Alabama Set to Host for 17th Time

Last Updated: March 24, 2025By

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama gymnastics team watched Monday’s NCAA Selection Show already knowing where it would be competing, as Tuscaloosa was previously announced as a regional host site (April 3-6) for the 17th time. The only thing missing were the opponents as the NCAA announced Florida, California, Oregon State, Clemson, Iowa, North Carolina, NC State and Rutgers would join the Crimson Tide at the regional.

Clemson and Rutgers will compete on Thursday, April 3 starting at 2 p.m. CT, for the opportunity to be in the second of two four-team sessions on Friday, April 4.

The first session on Friday, which gets underway way at 1 p.m., will feature Alabama, Cal, Iowa and North Carolina. The second session on Friday, staring at 7 p.m., will feature Florida, NC State, Oregon State and the winner of Thursday’s Clemson and Rutgers match up.

Following a recovery day on Saturday, April 5, the top-two teams from each of Friday’s sessions will meet for the regional final on Sunday, April 6, at 5 p.m., with the top-two teams advancing to the national championships.

Individual all-around and event specialists from Ball State, Central Michigan, Clemson, New Hampshire, Northern Illinois, Rutgers, Southeast Missouri State and Western Michigan will also compete for a chance to advance to nationals.

“This is a very exciting moment for our program and the state of Alabama. Coming off the SEC Championships in Birmingham and now hosting an NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa, it’s a special opportunity for us to be in as the sport of gymnastics continues to grow across the state. Next weekend at Coleman Coliseum, fans will see some incredible gymnastics, as every team set to compete is highly talented. Our focus will be on staying present, blocking out the noise and taking it one day at a time. We intentionally structured our regular season to mirror the NCAA postseason format, and competing in our home arena makes it even more special. Our goals still remain ahead of us, and we’re excited to welcome all the teams and individual qualifiers to Tuscaloosa.”
