TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State outdoor track and field teams will start the season at home for the Terry Long FSU Relays on March 27-28.
The meet will begin for the Noles on Thursday, starting with the men’s hammer at 3:00 p.m. Live results will be available.
This is the first time in program history that the relays will be named after Terry Long, who was head coach for the Seminoles from 1988-2003.
Long was a track athlete at Florida State, before becoming a record setting coach. During his time as student-athlete at FSU from 159-1963, long set school records in the 220 low hurdles and 120 high hurdles in addition to several relay team records.
Over his 15-year tenure at FSU as a coach, he coached 10 teams that won either either Metro or ACC Championships and was voted conference or region Coach of the Year 14 times. He coached 272 all-confernece athltes, nine Olympians and 82 All-America performances.
After a legendary career, long was inducted into the FSU Hall of Fame in 2005.
Coach Long will be reconigized on Friday in the infield at 1:50 p.m. Admission will also be free.
LAST TIME OUT
The Seminoles ended their indoor season on March 15 at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship in Boston.
Walker finished seventh with a lifetime best, tying the fourth-fastest time in school history at (7.18), securing first-team All-America for the second time in her career.
Andre Korbmacher concluded his season earning second team All-America honors in the men’s 60-meter hurdles placing 14th with a time of 7.76. Tyson Williams placed behind Korbmacher at 15th (7.77), claiming second team All-America.
