Florida State University Athletics
Cal began the afternoon earning doubles victories on Courts 2 and 3 in tightly contested 6-4 matches. No. 89-ranked Eva Shaw and Maria Juliana Parra Romero began the match trailing 5-1 to the No. 17-ranked pair Jessica Alsola and Mao Mushika before winning the next three games, to close the gap to 5-4 before the match was left unfinished after the doubles point was clinched.
Florida State battled during singles play, with 5-5 ties on Courts 4, 5, and 6 in the first set. No. 112-ranked Eva Shaw won the first set on Court 1 against No. 37-ranked Mushika 6-2. The Golden Bears earned victories on Courts 2, 3, and 4 to win the match. Shaw was in the third set with a 3-1 advantage when the match concluded.
FSU will remain home for its next match against No. 28 Stanford beginning on Sunday at noon. Admission is free to all Florida State home tennis matches.
