Gators Defeat Arkansas Under Friday Night Lights

GAINESVILLE, Fla.– The Florida Gators secured a dominant home win on Friday evening against the Razorbacks. UF defeated Arkansas 6-1 and came out strong from the start, grabbing the doubles point and five first set wins. The Gators are now knotted at 8-8 this season with four wins coming from SEC play.

Doubles Action:

Florida started strong in doubles play, with the No. 60-ranked duo of Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee delivering a 6-4 victory over Arkansas’ Olga Bienzobas and Carolina Gomez-Alonso on court one. However, the Razorbacks quickly responded, as Grace O’Donnell and Anet Koskel edged out Rachel Gailis and Reagan Parker 6-4 on court two.

 

The deciding doubles point came down to court three, where Talia Neilson-Gatenby and Noémie Oliveras engaged in a tense battle against Jimena Gomez-Alonso and Katarina Pavlechova. The Gators’ duo ultimately came out ahead after a close knot tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5).

Singles Play:

On court one, No. 39 Rachel Gailis set the tone with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over No. 74 Carolina Gomez-Alonso, giving the Gators an early boost.

 

Arkansas responded on court six, where Jimena Gomez-Alonso defeated Reagan Parker 6-3, 6-0, leveling the score at 1-1.

 

Noémie Oliveras reclaimed the lead for Florida with a crucial 6-3, 7-5 victory over Anet Koskel on court five. Oliveras’ composure was on full display as she claimed her first career singles win in conference play.

 

Alicia Dudeney, ranked No. 91, clinched the match for Florida with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-4 win against Olga Bienzobas on court two. Dudeney posted UF’s fourth point of the day at 4-1 and extender her singles win streak to six.

 

Bente Spee also had a poised and consistent performance for the Gators, earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Grace O’Donnell.

 

Talia Neilson-Gatenby added the final touch with a gritty three-set battle on court three. The freshman overcame a second-set stumble to ultimately defeat Katarina Pavlechova 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

UP NEXT:

Florida will get on the road and head to No. 10 Oklahoma for their second matchup of the weekend. The Gators will look to secure their fourth road win of the season and their third victory over a ranked opponent in 2025. The Sooners will host UF at 2 p.m. ET with doubles going out first.
