Gators tied for fourth after round one at Chattanooga Classic

Five UF golfers are T24 or better with Florida six back of the lead for the final 36-holes tomorrow.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Florida women’s golf team is tied for fourth after the opening round at the Chattanooga Classic on Friday at the Honors Course. 

Due to expected weather this weekend, tomorrow will feature 36-holes and the concussion of the final regular season tournament, starting at 8:45 a.m. 

Florida had a team round of 300 (+12) and are six strokes back of leader North Carolina (+6) while Georgia (+11) is in third and Wisconsin (+7) in second. 

Five UF golfers with four in the lineup are inside the top-24 led by Inès Archer and Paula Francisco tied for 11th with an opening round of 74 (+2). Archer is second in the field in par3 scoring at 2.50 (-2) going two-under and bogey-free on the four par3s with two birdies and pars. 

Both Addison Klonowski and Karoline Tuttle are tied for 24th after a round one of 76 (+4) as golfers encountered windy conditions on the day. Competing as an individual, Elaine Widjaja is the third Gator at T24. 

The non-counting score in the lineup was from Jessica Guiser, who had a 78 (+6).  

Following the Chattanooga Classic, Florida begins the first leg of the postseason at the SEC Championship on April 14 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla.
