TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 4 Florida State baseball team erased two early-inning deficits to beat Jacksonville 11-10 on Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium.

In their return home after a season-long seven game roadtrip, the Seminoles (24-4) rallied from down 5-0 in the first inning to lead 6-5 after two. The Dolphins (16-12) answered to retake a 7-6 advantage, but FSU responded right back with a three-run fourth and added two in the seventh before halting a two-run comeback attempt in the ninth.

Junior center fielder Max Williams hit his 13th and 14th home runs of the season, his second multi-homer game of the campaign. His 14 long balls in 2025 are tied for second-most nationally. Redshirt freshman designated hitter James Hankerson Jr. homered for the second time in as many games, the first two blasts of his career while making his first two starts.

Williams had two hits, three RBI and two runs scored in the win. Junior shortstop Alex Lodise joined Williams with two hits and three RBI, while freshman first baseman Myles Bailey had a game-best three hits with an RBI.

Lodise sits atop the NCAA leaderboard with 56 hits this season.

With the victory, Florida State improves to 137-42 all-time against Jacksonville. FSU has won six in a row in the in-state series, including a 9-6 triumph on February 26 at JU.

The Seminoles scored their 11 runs on 13 hits and the Dolphins scored 10 runs on eight hits with one error. Both teams left nine runners on base.

Redshirt senior right-hander Joe Charles earned the win and is 1-0 on the season. Junior righty Ben Barrett earned the save, his second. Both Charles and Barrett pitched 0.1 innings, as Charles stranded the bases loaded to end the fourth and Barrett left the tying run on second to end the game.

Jacksonville took a 5-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single, a run-scoring wild pitch and a three-run home run. However, Florida State quickly answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and another four in the second to take a 6-5 lead.

Williams got the scoring started with a two-run home run to right in the first inning to bring home junior right fielder Gage Harrelson.

Junior right-handed reliever Maison Martinez pitched a scoreless top of the second to set up the FSU offense to take the lead in the bottom half. Hankerson led off the inning with his second career home run, and second in as many games, before Lodise drove one in with an infield single. Bailey then singled to right-center to score another and Lodise plated the go-ahead run on a two-out wild pitch.

JU tied it at 6-6 with a bases-loaded walk in the third and took a 7-6 lead on a two-out RBI single in the fourth.

The Seminoles answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, all with two outs. It started with Williams’ first-pitch solo home run to center, and Bailey scored the go-ahead run on an RBI double by redshirt freshman left fielder Brody DeLamielleure. Junior second baseman Drew Faurot then singled home DeLamielleure. In the span of seven pitches, and one pitching change, a 7-6 deficit turned into a 9-7 lead.

Sophomore lefty Brady Louck retired the side in order in the fifth and allowed one solo home run in the sixth to make it 9-8. He then threw a 1-2-3 seventh to complete a 3.0-innning outing where he allowed one run on one hit with two strikeouts and no walks.

Florida State added two insurance runs in the seventh, as Lodise singled home Harrelson and Hankerson, who led off the inning with back-to-back walks. That made it 11-8 and proved to be the game-winning run.

After a scoreless eighth, Jacksonville scored two on a two-out double in the ninth. Barrett came in with the tying run on second and two outs and got a strikeout looking to end the game.

The Seminoles remain at Dick Howser Stadium to host Wake Forest from April 4-6. The series begins on the ACC Network on Friday, April 4, at 8 p.m. ET, followed by a 4 p.m. contest on Saturday, April 5 on ACCNX. Sunday’s finale is at 1 p.m., also on ACCNX.
