No. 3 Softball Drops Midweek at No. 7 Florida State
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For just the second time this season, the No. 3/2 Florida softball team (33-6, 6-3 Southeastern Conference) was shut out, dropping a midweek match up at No. 7/10 Florida State on Wednesday evening, 4-0.
Despite both teams tallying four hits, the Gator offense struggled to bat runners in, leaving eight on base.
Keagan Rothrock (9-2) took the loss in the circle, allowing four runs, two earned, and one walk.
After Florida State took an early lead off a three-run home run in the first, Rothrock was able to shut the Seminole offense down until the sixth.
Florida State added insurance with its second home run of the game in the frame, a solo shot.
The sophomore right-handed pitcher collected four strikeouts, including sitting Florida State down in order in the fourth inning.
It’s just the second time this season Rothrock has struck out the side and first since playing at Arizona State on Feb. 21.
With a single to lead off the game, Kendra Falby extended her season on-base streak to 39 games and has reached in 41 straight going back to the 2024 season.
