Alabama Baseball’s Lebron Named to Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron was selected to the 2025 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, USA Baseball announced Thursday.
Lebron is one of 45 amateur players on the midseason watch list for the Golden Spikes, an award which is given annually to the top player from college and high school baseball. Following the semifinalist announcement on May 18, baseball fans can vote for their favorite players on GoldenSpikesAward.com to help determine the finalists and winner. The 2025 Golden Spikes Award winner will be announced in late June in conjunction with the end of the amateur baseball season.
Dave Magadan is Alabama’s lone winner of the Golden Spikes Award, taking home the hardware following his record-setting 1983 season.
Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List
Justin Lebron
- An electrifying five-tool player who serves as Alabama’s everyday shortstop
- Started all 30 games for the Crimson Tide, batting .342 (41-120) with nine doubles, one triple and 13 home runs
- Also tallied a nation-leading 53 RBI and 36 runs scored to go with 18 walks and eight stolen bases across nine attempts during his sophomore campaign
- Produced 13 multi-RBI games, including five games of five-plus RBI
- Owns 1.79 RBI per game mark, the second-highest figure in both the SEC and Division I
- Also ranks second in the conference and is tied for third among Division I players for home runs
- Recorded a team-high 91 total bases to rank atop the SEC and 10th nationally
- Managed a team-best .758 slugging percentage, the fifth-highest mark in the SEC and 32nd in the country
