SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF. – The No. 7 Florida State beach volleyball team dropped a pair of ranked matchups to complete the Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo, California, falling to No. 3 Cal Poly and No. 12 Arizona State.

FSU opened Saturday with a 4-1 loss to No. 3 Cal Poly. The Mustangs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Maddie Trusty and Gella Andrew kept the Seminoles in contention with a straight set win on court two. On court one, Audrey Koenig and Alexis Durish battled back to force a third set after dropping the first 21-10, but Cal Poly clinched the dual with a hard-fought win in the decider.

In their final match of the weekend, the Seminoles came up short against No. 12 Arizona State in a tightly contested dual that saw three of five courts go to a third set. The Sun Devils took an early 2-0 lead with wins on courts five and three. Angeline Bergner and Carra Sassack answered with a three-set win on court four, 20-22, 21-18, 15-12, to make it 2-1, but Arizona State sealed the victory with a win on court one. Trusty and Andrew closed out the dual with a three-set win on court two.

The Seminoles will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the CCSA tournament on April 25-26. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
