GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alabama rallied to take a lead in the seventh inning in Saturday’s series finale against Florida but the Gators responded in the bottom half to win the game in walk-off fashion, 4-3, to take the weekend series over the Crimson Tide.

Alabama (31-18, 8-10 SEC) and Florida (39-10, 11-7 SEC) were locked in a scoreless pitcher’s duel until a sixth-inning double down the right field line from Kali Heivilin gave the Crimson Tide the first lead of the game. The Gators answered right back in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game on an RBI groundout and taking the lead on a Mia Williams RBI double to make it 2-1 heading to the top of the seventh.

Brooke Ellestad led off the seventh with a first-pitch single and pinch runner Kristen White stole second two batters later. Riley Valentine hit an infield single to put runners at the corners, setting up Salen Hawkins for a fly ball to right as White tagged up and scored on the sac fly to tie the game. Valentine, who moved up to second on the previous play, was driven in with an RBI single from Lauren Johnson as the Tide retook the lead at 3-2.

With runners at the corners and one out in the bottom of the seventh, an RBI fielder’s choice tied the game and Korbe Otis walked it off in the next at-bat with a chopper past second base to drive in the game-winning run as the Gators rallied to win the game, 4-3, and take the weekend series.
