The Seminoles’ selection to the NCAA Lexington Regional Championship marks the 19th consecutive season the program has competed in an NCAA Regional – every year since 2006.
“I’m really proud of our players and our coaching staff for earning a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Lexington Regional Championship,” said head coach Amy Bond. “The support that our program receives from Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford, the entire staff of the Department of Athletics, everybody at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club, and the entire Florida State University community, is what makes our program so incredibly successful. This is a very proud moment in the history of our program, and we are thankful to everyone who has made earning a regional No. 1 seed possible.”
During the span of the last 10 years, the Seminoles have earned two NCAA Regional championships (at Louisville in 2021 and in Tallahassee in 2022), totaled three runner-up finishes, and advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals from eight consecutive regional tournaments.
The Seminoles’ No. 1 regional seed marks the sixth consecutive year they have earned a No. 4 seed or higher in a regional championship. Florida State has been a single digit seed or higher each year since 2015 and were the No. 2 seed in 2017 and 2021.
Bond, who was named the head coach at her alma mater in 2010, has now guided her teams to 14 consecutive regional championships (each year since 2011) – each year of her head coaching career at Florida State. As the winningest women’s golf coach in Florida State history, she has led the Seminoles to 11 top-10 regional finishes, including top five finishes in each of the last eight years.
The 2024-25 season has been a very special year for Bond and her team.
Beginning with a runner-up finish at the Folds of Honor Collegiate in September, Florida State has finished in the top four of each event this year and it enters the NCAA Lexington Championship having won six of its last seven events. The Seminoles have won the team titles at the Landfall Tradition, the Collegiate Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club, the Moon Invitational, the Briar’s Creek Invitational, the Florida State Match Up, and the ACC Championship.
Bond led Florida State to a runner-up finish as the 2025 ACC Championship as All-American Lottie Woad won the first individual ACC Championship in school history.
“We are so happy to have earned a No. 1 regional seed for the first time in school history,” said Bond. “There are so many good teams in our region, so many teams who have played great golf this year, that we have to play our best golf until the last putt falls.”
The top five teams at each of the six sites (Charlottesville, Va., Columbus, Ohio, Gulf Canyon, Az., Lexington, Ky., Lubbock, Tex., and Norman, Okla.) will advance to the championship site – in San Diego at the Carlsbad, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa for the national championships.
Under Bond, the Seminoles have now qualified for each NCAA Championship Finals tournament since 2016 (there was no tournament played in 2020).
“Earning the number 1 seed shows how hard we have been working this season,” said team captain Kaylah Williams. “We have had such a great season and being a little closer to home will hopefully help us continue to have a great season and go to nationals.”
