Derin Tanriyasükür Set to Join Alabama in the Fall
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – 2020 European Championship bronze medalist Derin Tanriyasükür is set to join the Alabama gymnastics program in the fall.
Tanriyasükür made history at the European Championships, as her third-place finish on the uneven bars solidified the first medal in Turkish gymnastics history in the women’s category. Other noteworthy accomplishments include a trio of top-three finishes at the 2023 and 2024 National Championships with her club team IBB Sports Club. In 2023, Tanriyasükür won an individual bronze medal in the all-around before guiding her team to a third-place, overall finish. A year later, she bettered her all-around performance and captured silver.
The Istanbul, Turkey, native joins an excellent, incoming freshmen class that includes Azaraya Ra-Akbar, Jasmine Cawley and McKenzie Matters.
