Gulf Coast low soaks Louisiana to Florida with heavy rain, thunderstorms
It was a wet and miserable end to the weekend for millions of people living along the Gulf Coast. An area of low pressure brought widespread rain and even some thunderstorms, which will continue into the start of the upcoming workweek.
Light rain began to impact communities in Texas and Louisiana earlier in the weekend, but on Sunday, the bulk of the precipitation moved into southern Louisiana and Mississippi. Even portions of southern Alabama and communities in the western Florida Panhandle saw rain on Sunday.
The FOX Forecast Center said about 1-2 inches of rain is possible across the region, but the flood risk will be low because that amount will be spread out over time.
However, flash flooding is still possible if some heavier rain sets up and stalls over an area for an extended period of time.

South Florida to get much-needed rainfall
That same storm system will dip south into Florida on Monday, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to cities like Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach and Miami.
Storms will likely continue through late Monday.
While rainfall totals will likely be limited to 1-2 inches, any precipitation that falls will be welcome news due to an intensifying drought across much of the Florida Peninsula.
The heaviest rainfall is expected along the Interstate 95 corridor from West Palm Beach to Homestead. While widespread flooding is not expected, urban areas could see some isolated runoff issues, especially in areas where debris and vegetation clog drains.
