Alabama Sends 11 to NCAA Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –  The Alabama swimming and diving team will send at least 11 individuals to the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, the organization announced Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide qualified eight swimmers in 11 individual events, in addition to adding three swimmers as alternates for the Tide’s four advancing relays. Qualified individuals will have the ability to compete in additional events at the meet.

Alabama will look to add to its number of qualifiers as the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships get underway March 9-12 in Auburn, Ala. The NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 19-22 in Federal Way, Wash.

  • Avery Wiseman highlights the Crimson Tide, securing the fourth-fastest 200 breaststroke spot at the NCAA Championships thanks to her silver medal and season-best 2:06.28 performance at the Southeastern Conference Championships
  • Cadence Vincent enters the competition seeded seventh in the 50 freestyle with a career-best time of 21.59 from the conference championships, which earned her a silver medal in the event
  • The Crimson Tide has three 100 breaststrokers in scoring contention as Wiseman holds the 13th seed with a 58.51, Diana Petkova holds the 18th seed with a 58.94 and Kasia Norman is the 32nd seed with a 59.35
  • Emily Jones’ career-best time of 50.75 in the 100 backstroke earned her the 10th seed at the NCAA Championships
  • She would fall just shy of her career-best time in the 100 backstroke at the SEC Championships, earning a bronze medal with a 50.92
  • Jones also ranks 20th in the 200 backstroke, while Jada Scott holds the 26th-fastest (47.94) and Vincent holds the 31st-fastest (48.00) 100 freestyle swims
  • Kailyn Winter ranks 30th in the 50 freestyle (21.94), while Liberty Williams ranks 38th in the 1650 freestyle (16:09.37)
