Gators to Face No. 20 Alabama in Round Two of SEC Tournament

The Gators will take on No. 20 Alabama in the second round of the SEC Tournament. This marks UF’s second consecutive year advancing to round two of the postseason tournament.

Florida will matchup against the Crimson Tide on Thursday evening in the second round of the SEC Tournament. The game will tipoff inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena at 8:30 p.m. ET.

GREENVILLE, S.C.— The Gators are set to face No. 20 Alabama in theirs second game of the 2025 SEC Tournament on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena and live coverage can be found on SECN.
 
The Gators enter round two of the SEC Tournament after defeating Auburn 60-50 on Wednesday night. Alabama has yet to play a postseason game, receiving a bye in the initial round as the No. 6 seed.

No. 20 Alabama (23-7, 10-6 SEC):

THE SERIES:
The all-time series between Florida and Alabama stands in favor of the Crimson Tide at 34-30. UF is currently on a three-game losing streak against Alabama spanning from Feb. 29, 2024 to Feb. 6, 2025.

GATORS x ALABAMA HISTORY:

Florida and Alabama have met a recorded 64 times and their initial matchup dates back to 1976. Since then, the Gators and the Crimson Tide have met consistently with 28 games being tipped in Gainesville, 24 taking place in Tuscaloosa. UF and Alabama have met 12 times in neutral territory with the Gators only securing two wins on neutral grounds.

 

Wednesday’s contest will be the Gators third time competing against Alabama in the 2024-25 season. UF and Alabama were slated as home and away opponents for this year’s SEC campaign. Alabama defeated Florida in both of these matchups: 79-69 (1/2/25) and 84-66 (2/6/25).

PROJECTED FLORIDA STARTERS:

FLORIDA’S LAST TIME OUT:
The Gators defeated Auburn on Wednesday night to secure their spot in the second round of the SEC Tournament. The final score stood at 60-50 with four Gators in double figures for scoring. Florida was led on both ends of the hardwood by Ra Shaya Kyle logging 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle’s performance marked her fourteenth double-double of the 2024-25 season and she shot a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.
 
As a team UF shot 34.5 percent from the field (19-55) and capitalized from the charity stripe going 21-23 (91%). On the defensive end Florida outrebounded the Tigers 42-41 with six Gators grabbing three or more rebounds.

ALABAMA’S LAST TIME OUT:
Alabama will arrive in Greenville after last playing on Sunday, Mar. 2, falling 91-84 at No. 21 Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide were led by veterans Zaay Green with 27 points followed by Sarah Ashlee Barker posting 20. On the defensive end Alabama was led on the boards by Karly Weathers grabbing 11 rebounds. As a unit Alabama brought in 35 rebounds and tallied eight steals.
