Florida Tallies Road Win Over Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss.– The Florida Gators dominated on the road, securing a 4-0 sweep over No. 54 Mississippi State on Friday. With the victory, UF posted its second conference win and their first SEC road win of the 2025 season. Florida remained strong across both doubles and singles action proving their ability to compete against highly regarded opponents.
 
Florida set the tone early by clinching the doubles point. The duo of Rachel Gailis and Nikola Daubnerova delivered a flawless 6-0 win over Jayna Clemens and Chiara Di Genova, while Alicia Dudeney and Bente Spee sealed the point with a 6-3 victory against Gianna Oboniye and Athina Pitta.
 
Gailis put Florida on the board in the singles category with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory over Oboniye. Gailis maintained control over the match for the entirety of play and put UF ahead 2-0.
 
Dudeney kept the momentum going for UF, defeating Carolina Troiano 6-2, 6-2 to push the Gators closer to the finish line. Dudeney’s win on court two marked her second of the day after winning her doubles match alongside Spee.
 
Neilson-Gatenby sealed the overall win for Florida with a solid 6-4, 6-2 triumph against Alessia Tagliente on court three. Neilson-Gatenby’s win secured the 4-0 sweep over Mississippi State.
 
The remaining matches were left unfinished as Florida clinched the victory in Starkville. Daubnerova was battling against Pitta, falling 7-5 in the first set but held the lead at 3-1 in the second when play was halted. Spee had a strong start against Clemens, taking the first set 6-1 before trailing 2-4 in the second. Lastly, Oliveras held a narrow lead over Di Genova, winning a tight first set 7-6 and leading 1-0 in the second when the match was called in favor of the Gators.
