TALLAHASSEE – The No. 10 Florida State softball team (25-5, 3-0) picked up two wins on Saturday as they defeated Pitt (10-16, 0-6) 13-0 in five innings in game one of the day and 3-1 in the series finale.

Game 1 (FSU 13 Pitt 0, 5 innings)

The Seminoles’ offense exploded right from the start with a five-run first inning setting the tone. After Isa Torres drew a walk and Jaysoni Beachum singled, Kennedy Harp delivered a bases-clearing triple to put FSU up 2-0. Harp’s triple was her ninth of the season and moved her into a tie for third for the most triples in a single season in school history. Michaela Edenfield followed with an RBI single to extend the lead before Katie Dack crushed a two-run homer to make it 5-0 after just one inning.

After a quiet second inning for both teams, the Seminoles continued their offensive onslaught in the third. Amaya Ross led off with a solo home run for the second consecutive game. Back-to-back-to-back singles from Jahni Kerr, Krystina Hartley and Torres loaded the bases for Beachum who hit a sac fly to bring home one. A throwing error allowed Hartley to score to put the Noles up 8-0. Edenfield picked up another RBI on a double, and Katie Dack picked up her third hit of the day to make it 10-0. Shelby McKenzie picked up a RBI on a groundout to make it 11-0 after three innings.

The Seminoles added two more runs in the fourth when Addie DeLong hit a triple and Jaysoni Beachum belted her second home run of the series to extend the lead to 13-0.

Apsel earned the win with a stellar performance as she went four innings and allowed just two hits while striking out two. Makenna Reid finished out the game in the fifth inning with three strikeouts. Apsel was credited with the win to improve to 9-0 this season.

Game 2 (FSU 3 Pitt 1)

The Noles used three clutch solo home runs and a phenomenal pitching performance from Jazzy Francik to defeat the Panthers in the series finale.

Pitt got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the first then a pitcher’s duel broke out as neither team could get anything going until Edenfield hit her fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.

After both teams went down in order in the fifth, Harp broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run down the left field line. Two batters later, Hallie Wacaser hit a solo shot to give the Noles some insurance.

After Ashtyn Danley got the start and went two innings, Francik entered the circle for the Noles and pitched a gem. Francik earned her fourth win of the season as she went five innings, allowed just one hit and struck out seven.

The Seminoles will hit the road this week for four games against ranked opponents. FSU will play No. 23 Alabama on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on SEC Network before traveling to Durham to face No. 17 Duke in a three-game series. Friday’s game in Durham will be on ACC Network while the final two games can be seen on ACCNX.
