New Projects Launched Across Walton County

The Walton County Public Works Department is busy with ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at improving the quality and safety of our community’s roads and public spaces. These efforts exemplify Walton County’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing our public infrastructure for the benefit of all residents. Public Works appreciates the community’s patience and support as we strive to complete these vital projects. We remain committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure improvements that will serve our residents for years to come.

McDaniels Fish Camp Road

The department continues to diligently work on asphalt maintenance patches throughout the county. Crews are currently engaged in cleaning and string lining McDaniel’s Fish Camp Road. We anticipate the return of our Asphalt Spreader on Wednesday, pending successful repairs. If conditions permit, plans are in place to overlay Azalea Drive in Freeport on Thursday.

Demolition Project

All sod work on Harrison Road has been successfully completed. Our bridge crew has now mobilized to Chaffin Street, where they are undertaking the demolition of two houses.

Karli Court Dirt to Pave/Drainage Project

Stabilization work is ongoing on Karli Court as part of our initiative to improve road stability and longevity across the county.

Forest Shore Drainage Project

The Forest Shore Drainage Project continues to progress as part of our efforts to enhance water management and mitigate flooding risks in the area.

Special Projects

During the school’s Spring Break, our focus has shifted to Freeport, where we are constructing new sidewalks to facilitate a new crosswalk. This project aims to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility for students and community members.

Maintenance Projects

Our Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) team is conducting flagging operations at Site C6 for D4 to continue shoulder work. Additionally, we have successfully completed striping on Harrison Road and Wagon Wheel Road, enhancing visibility and road safety for drivers.
