Walton County Construction Traffic Advisory
Walton County – March 21, 2025 – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Walton and Okaloosa counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities. All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
Walton County:
• U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 – U.S. 331 drivers may encounter temporary traffic disruptions with the brief stoppage of all U.S. 331 travel lanes, near the I-10 off-ramps and Walton Plaza intersection, Monday, March 24 through Friday, March 28, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The closures are expected to last less than 10 minutes while crews perform signalization work, and one direction (northbound or southbound) will remain open at all times. Drivers will also encounter intermittent U.S. 331 lane closures, between Coy Burgess Loop and Live Oak Avenue, Sunday, March 23 through Thursday, March 27, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for paving operations. One travel lane will remain open in each direction at all times.
• U.S. 331 Routine Utility Maintenance South of County Road 280 – Motorists may encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures Monday, March 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for routine utility maintenance.
Okaloosa County:
• Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Monday, March 24 through Thursday, March 27, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
• U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road.
• Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park.
• Interstate 10 (I-10) Resurfacing from west of Yellow River to east of Shoal River – Drivers will encounter I-10 alternating lane closures between mile markers 56 and 59, Monday, March 24 through Thursday, March 27, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving operations. In addition, I-10 eastbound drivers will encounter an outside (right) lane closure for guardrail installation, between mile markers 55 and 56, Wednesday, March 26 and Thursday, March 27, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast – Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures, between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Monday, March 24 through Thursday, March 27, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and for crews to place thermoplastic striping.
• State Road (S.R.) 85 and S.R. 189 Intersection Improvements – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures, Monday, March 24 through Wednesday, March 27, between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work at the following locations:
• S.R. 85 at Erwin Fleet Road intersection.
• S.R. 189 at Lewis Street intersection.
• S.R. 189 at Pelham Road intersection.
• Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, March 23 through Thursday, March 27, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.
