Walton – Okaloosa County Construction Traffic Advisory
Walton County – April 11, 2025 – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities. All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
Walton County:
• U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 – Drivers may experience intermittent U.S. 331 lane closures, from south of I-10 to U.S. 90, Sunday, April 13 through Thursday, April 17, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities. Additionally, drivers are reminded that the inside U.S. 331 northbound left-turn lane to access U.S. 90 westbound has been temporarily closed. One U.S. 331 northbound left-turn lane and one right-turn lane to access U.S. 90 remain open. The new temporary configuration is anticipated to remain in place through early May while crews work in the median construction zone.
• U.S. 331 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Choctawhatchee Bay – Motorists may encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures north of U.S. 98 Monday, April 14 through Wednesday, April 16 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
Okaloosa County:
• Brooks Bridge Replacement Project – Beginning the week of Sunday, April 13, a segment of Florida Blanca Place near Brooks Street will be temporarily closed in Fort Walton Beach. This temporary closure will be in place while crews
perform drainage work and reconstruct this section of Florida Blanca Place. During the closure, drivers will be detoured via First Street and Brooks Street.
Signage will be in place to direct drivers through the detour. Access to adjacent properties and businesses will be maintained at all times.
Additionally, drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, April 13 through Thursday, April 17, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:
• U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road.
• Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park.
• Interstate 10 (I-10) Resurfacing from west of Yellow River to east of Shoal River – Drivers will encounter alternating I-10 lane closures between mile markers 50 and 56, Sunday, April 13 through Thursday, April 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be paving the roadway.
• U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast – Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures, between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, April 13 through Thursday, April 17, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for paving operations and for crews to place thermoplastic striping.
• State Road (S.R.) 85 Resurfacing & Safety Improvements from Hospital Drive to U.S. 90 – Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 85 lane closures, from Hospital Drive to U.S. 90, Sunday, April 13 through Thursday, April 17, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for concrete work and guardrail installation.
• Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project – Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge, Sunday, April 13, through Thursday, April 17, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.
