SARASOTA, Fla. – The Alabama rowing program secured six top-three finishes during two-day Big Ten Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla., with the Crimson Tide’s Second Varsity 4+ crew accumulating two of those finishes.

The Crimson Tide snagged two top-three finishes in Friday’s sessions that featured Brown, Clemson, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Rutgers. The morning was highlighted by UA’s 3V8+ crew (6:50.069), who crossed the line in second place. Earlier in the session, the Tide’s 2V4+ boat took third via a 7:24.162 performance.

Alabama’s 1V4+ crew, led by senior coxswain Reagan Lewis, highlighted the second session of racing with a second-place finish (7:22.715) against the likes of Harvard/Radcliffe, Iowa, Indiana, Oklahoma and UCLA.

The Tide returned to the water Saturday for the final day of action. Alabama ended its weekend competition with the 2V4+ crew (7:47.321) taking third against the Duke, Indiana, Oregon State, Rutgers and USC boats.

“It was an incredibly competitive two days of racing. There were some great races thrown down by our crews. Every boat had some positives it could build on and areas where we can improve. We are energized entering the three weeks leading up to the first-ever SEC Championship. The experience we have gained will only help us going forward.”
