LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 7 Florida State softball team (41-6, 15-1) picked up another win in ACC play on Friday night with a 10-9 victory over Louisville (23-22, 6-13) at Ulmer Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky.
After 12 days off, the Seminoles showed no sign of rust as they scored five runs on four hits before the Cardinals recorded an out in the first inning. Isa Torres drew a leadoff walk, and Jahni Kerr singled to through the left side and advanced to second on the throw to put two runners in scoring position for the Noles. Michaela Edenfield hit a slow ground ball to the pitcher who was unable to field it to allow Torres to score. Jaysoni Beachum and Katie Dack hit back-to-back singles to extend the lead to 3-0. Angelee Bueno added two more runs on a single through the right side to put the Noles up 5-0.
Ashtyn Danley got the start in the circle for the Noles and kept the Cardinals off the board to keep the momentum with the Noles.
FSU used a two-out rally in the top of the second to add four more runs. Edenfield drew another walk, and Dack singled to put runners on base for Bueno. She delivered with a single to pick up her third RBI of the game. Kennedy Harp cleared the bases with her 10th triple of the season. Harp is one triple away from tying the school record for most triples in a single season. Danley drove in a Harp with a single to put the Noles up 9-0.
After two scoreless innings, Louisville added five runs in the fifth to cut into the lead.
FSU got a run back in the seventh as Kerr ripped one through the left side to put the Noles up 10-5. Kerr has recorded a RBI in her last five games.
The Cardinals were not going down without a fight as they scored four runs with two outs, but Jazzy Francik got the final out with runners on the corners to end the game. Francik picked up her seventh save of the season to move to No. 2 all-time for most saves in a single season. Annabelle Widra was credited with the win after going five innings and and allowing two earned runs to improve to 10-2 on the season.
