TALLAHASSEE– Florida State outdoor track and field student-athletes Micahi Danzy and Tyra Wilson were named ACC Performers of the Week on Tuesday following their performances at the LSU Alumni Gold Invite over the weekend.
Danzy was named the Men’s Performer of the Week while Tyra Wilson earned the accolade on the women’s side.
Danzy claimed the eighth-fastest time in FSU history with a lifetime performance of 45.41 in the men’s 400-meter, placing second. The Tallahassee native nearly edged out Canadian gold medalist, Steven Gardiner who cross the line just ahead of Danzy at 45.18.
“Micahi continues to grow as an athlete mentally and physically,” said associate men’s head coach Rick Argro. “He’s in a good grove now, putting together good training sessions that translate on the track. As we wind down our regular season, he is peaking at the right time heading into the ACC Championships in a few weeks.”
Wilson collected her first win of the season in the women’s 400 hurdles, after clocking a personal best of 55.39 for the second-fastest time in FSU history.
“Tyra has shown tremendous growth this season,” said Director of track and field Matt Kane. “Glad she was able to come away with a big personal best. Her performance sets her up for some great things as we look to the postseason.”
